Called to Duty

A good friend passed along some dreadful news today – his brother has been recalled to duty and will be deployed to Iraq within the next few weeks.  In addition to my friend and their immediate family, this soldier has a wife and a 1 ½ old baby who will now be without him —  just as the holiday’s arrive.  Merry Christmas, huh?

Now it’s no secret how I feel about this war, but as I said to my friend this morning, that’s a separate fight.  When it comes to our brave soldiers, we need to remember that our thoughts and prayers must always be with them.  We must also remember the families they are forced to leave behind.

I told my friend that I would add his brother and his family to my prayers and I’m asking that all of you do the same.  In honor of their privacy, I’m not going to reveal the name of my friend or his brother.  Instead, I’m just asking that you take a moment to pray for all our brave men and women and the families they leave behind.
