With a HUGE grin on my face, here are some early observations from last night….
1. As the great Yogi Berra once said, "It ain’t over til it’s over." No matter how many times Mr. Obama and his spinsters (as well as those who continue to discount the fact that Hillary Clinton is the better candidate) try to look past last night’s losses, the race for the Democratic nomination is NOT over.
2. Yes, Hillary is still behind in delegates, but as I’ve been saying all along neither candidate is going to secure the necessary number of delegates before the convention in August, so can we let the rest of the country vote? In case you’ve forgotten, this is EXACTLY why most of the states moved their primaries up this year. People are tired of not having a voice when it comes to Presidential primary voting.
3. Congrats to John McCain on securing the Republican nomination. I and many of my fellow Democrats are looking forward to "the picture" from the Rose Garden today when Mr. McCain will kiss, hug, make up and get the full backing from George W. Bush.
4. Does anyone really think the race between Hillary and Mr. Obama is truly going to hurt the Democratic party…other than those in the Barack Obama camp? Yes, they will be fighting each other, but in doing so they will be talking about the issues and eating up the news cycle – meaning the issues at hand including still fighting an unpopular war, our failing economy, rising gas prices, our continued decline in popularity throughout the world….shall I continue?
Yes, Mr. McCain will now have the time to focus his campaign and begin running the typical smear campaign Republicans are so very good at. But if you’re talking about the same tired solutions to the problems this country is facing how can that be considered an advantage?
More to come…
