According to some in North Carolina…

…if you are gay you are a ‘sexual deviant’ and therefore don’t deserve to be protected under a bullying bill that is currently before both Houses of the State Legislature.  According to media stories (like the one below) small minded peckerwoods associated with the group Christian Action League are using their mailing lists to get the word out to legislators that they should oppose the bill.

Clearly not enough students have been killed as the result of bullying or similar behavior in schools across the country for these idiots.  And as sad as it is, I still can’t help but chuckle when a group that incorporates the word ‘Christian’ into its name promotes physical harm on another human being simply because they can’t get over themselves.  CJ

North Carolina legislators have been working on a bullying bill for more than a year, and until Tuesday thought they had a compromise that would pass both House and Senate.

The bill has stalled over a list that included “sexual orientation” as one of more than a dozen reasons a student might be bullied or harassed.

Both the House and Senate plan to vote on a bullying bill before the end of the week, though it is not certain what they will decide.

Opponents to the bill want the whole list removed.

According to the McClatchy Washington Bureau, the Christian Action League is asking people on its mailing list to tell legislators to oppose it, and the North Carolina Family Policy Council has written extensively on its view that gay rights groups are using the issue of school safety to promote a social agenda.

“This is a watershed issue, and if ‘sexual orientation’ is enacted into North Carolina law through HB 1366, it will serve as the basis for affirming deviant sexual behaviors throughout our state statutes,” read a brief that Bill Brooks, Family Policy Council executive director, gave to legislators, McClatchy reported.
