Another Letter

[An open letter the The Speaker of the House – Nancy Pelosi]

Dear Madam Speaker,

With all due respect, Shut Up!

In the past month, I have NOT watched you on Today, This Week!, Larry King or any of the numerous interviews you've granted to the media since the House went on recession. No wait…that's not the word I meant…recess…recess…that's the right word.  Quite frankly, I don't understand the purpose of your summer media tour.

What have you got to show, other than your disdain for Hillary Clinton?

Seriously, you want to make news, try leading.  Need some help identifying the areas that are in desperate need of leadership?  Here are a few – economy, gas prices, education, the people of New Orleans, an unpopular war…the list is plentiful.  Stop telling us that George Bush is a failure.  We KNOW already.

By all means, enjoy your summer break.  I'm sure you must be wiped out from basically accomplishing nothing this year…other than the few items listed below.  But come September, as (the fictional) President Josiah Bartlet liked to say, 'break's over!'

If we (and by 'we' I mean Democrats) don't win back the White House come November, you Madame Speaker will have a lot of explaining to do.  Given the fact that the Democratically controlled Congress hasn't been able to accomplish much beyond a few hearings on the use of steroids in Baseball and $300 checks to help 'stimulate' the economy, the failures of this Congress will and must shoulder some of the blame for American's deciding that the Republican's are better suited to fix the problems they created.
