Word on the street is Sen. Joe Lieberman is on the short list to be John McCain's running mate this fall. An even bigger rumor swirling this morning is that regardless of whether he is on the ticket or not, he will speak at the Republican National convention next month.
Interesting you say? No not really. When Zell Miller supported George Bush in 2004 and spoke at the Republican National Convention that was interesting and a blow to our party. Miller, a true blue "Southern Democrat" (read moderate Republican) was a force in the party. His keynote speech at the 1992 Democratic National Convention in which he said of then Vice President Dan Quayle, "Not all of us can be born rich, handsome, and lucky, and that's why we have a Democratic Party," is the stuff that legends are built on.
The same can't be said for Lieberman, who let's face it has been more of a loser than winner. He was a drag on the ticket in 2000 (thanks Al Gore) and an even bigger loser in his State's Democratic primary 2 years ago.
This Judas who I used to refer to as Ethel Kennedy's illegitimate twin brother (I will no longer make this reference as it is clearly an insult to associate this jackass with Mrs. Kennedy) is lower than pond scum. He doesn't have an ounce of dignity or loyalty to the party that made him what he is today, so quite frankly I say good riddance to him.
If Harry Reid had an ounce of pride in Party, he would toss this loser to the curb faster than CBS dumped Jimmy The Greek. It may cost him his grip (if you can call it that) on the Majority, but it's time to take a stand. It's not like anything is getting accomplished in the Senate with this guy "siding" with the Democrats anyway.
Seriously, with friends like this…who needs the Republican party?
