You spend today ignoring the historic images that take place today…you don't get it;
You'd rather pout on this day and say on this day that 66,882,230 people were wrong…you don't get it;
You look down on others on this day who choose to celebrate…you don't get it;
What you don't get is that today isn't just about Barack Obama becoming the 44th President of the United States. It's about our country fulfilling the path set forth by our Founding Fathers that every four years we celebrate the inaugural of the President of the United States. Whether it be welcoming a new President or the start of a second term, on this day we as a nation are expected to come togther and hope that the President will have the strength and ability to lead our nation….and the world
But for some that's too difficult. And while it's sad…it's also understandable. But this isn't a day when you get angry at those individuals…because doing so means you're more focused on them than the historic events that are happening around us.
And because this day is what democracy is all about — it is on this day that I say these words to George W. Bush — "Thank You Mr. President."
