Idiots with Power / People Who Should Just Go Away!

This week — Dick and Liz Cheney, Michael Steele, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, the Powers that be at ABC who moved Ugly Betty…the list goes on and on!

Go Fishing….Please!

Thumbs up to those who picked up on my Godfather reference in my FB status last week when I suggested Dick Cheney go fishing with Al Neri last week. For those of you who didn’t get the reference — Neri was Michael Corelone’s “go to” guy. When Michael ordered the hit on his brother Fredo, Al took Fredo fishing and while Fredo was reciting a Hail Mary (his trick for catching fish) Al shot him in the back of the head. Now, I’m not suggesting that Al shoot Dick in the back of the head. I say shoot him in the face…like he shoots his friend.

On surface, it’s quite amusing watching Dick try to alter history, but when you dig deep down you realize how sad and futile the exercise is. And then there’s his nutty daughter, Liz who seems to think that her father’s attempts to rewrite history are in fact on par with what Al Gore has done since the 2000 election was stolen from him.

In a confrontation with Washington Post columnist Eugene Robinson, Liz said, "It seems like you want him [Dick] to shut up because you disagree with what he’s saying. I haven’t seen similar columns from you or frankly anybody else saying things like 'Al Gore should go back to Tennessee.'"

Um, why should Al Gore go back to Tennessee? First of all he lost the State, so if I were him I’d stay clear of it. But more important, since the Supreme Court election of 2000, Gore has made a valiant (Nobel Peace Prize winning) effort to get world leader’s to wake up and face the environmental dangers facing our planet. What exactly has your father done since mercy be to God his reign of terror ended?

Maybe you should go fishing with your dad and Al… then come back to me with an answer.

Once a tool…

Speaking of people who should be shot in the face…

My favorite token/tool, GOP Chairman Michael Steele, this week came up with a new strategy to combat same-sex marriage…it will hurt small businesses. Really? Really? In the words of Chandler Bing, “If only there was something in your head to control the things you say!”

It’s not really worth it for me to debate the idiocy of this new strategy. In fact, I doubt I could do a better job than Keith Olbermann did the other night – http://bit.ly/MJQ1D It is clear however that Republican’s and those who support their bias and discriminatory view of same-sex marriage are beginning to panic as more and more States sign bills into law “allowing” same-sex marriages.

My favorite token/tool Steele also made the following proclamations this week:

* "Today we are declaring an end to the era of Republicans looking backward.”

* “The era of apologizing for Republicans' mistakes of the past is now officially over."

* "The era of Republican navel gazing is over. We have turned the corner on regret, recrimination, self-
pity and self-doubt. Now is the hour to focus all of our energies on winning the future."

Bold words…from an idiot, who also says Republican’s shouldn’t waste time going after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi or Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. He believes they should focus their assaults on the President in an all out effort to break his celebrity status.

Here’s a thought token/tool…how about putting forth some worth legislation that you know…might help the country and thus its Citizens…instead of just trying to…oh what’s the point in finishing that statement.

It’s not a matter of looks!

Everyone seems to be up in arms about the way Republican’s and Conservatives alike continue to take issue with the looks of Speaker Pelosi. While I won’t condone their actions, I will say they are missing a golden opportunity to take issue with her…wait for it…..stupidity.

Did y’all see that horrid press conference she gave the other day? You know the one in which all of her “notes” were messed up and thus she looked like a stumbling bumbling idiot while trying to get her story straight regarding what she knew and when she knew it. In fact I’m convinced the same person who ‘misplaced’ Jeannine Pierro’s ‘page 10’ from her infamous kick-off speech for her failed Senatorial bid may have had a hand in messing up Pelosi’s prepared remarks. But I digress.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s not that far fetched to believe the CIA mislead her as she says, but really…get the damn story straight. Or better yet, drop the whole damn thing. Nobody cares. In the grand scheme of things, the damage has been done. We need to acknowledge what we did, say it will never happen again and move the %$#@$%^@!! On already!

Oh, and I guess Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid was feeling left out, because yesterday he gave a performance that left me wondering if he was drunk during his press briefing yesterday. No need to get into the details of his at times incoherent babble yesterday. What I will say however…loudly and clearly is ….GET OUT…please!

Social climb is on the rise

(Big props to anyone who can tell me what movie the heading to this section is from. 🙂

Massachusetts, Iowa, Vermont, Connecticut and Maine…who is going to be next? New York? New Hampshire?

Regardless of which State is next, the fact of the mater is what we’ve said all along is beginning to be realize…the Constitution is our book of law…not the Bible. I’m tried of the lame arguments…of the name calling…of all the crap that is associated with the simple fact that once again a class of US Citizens is being forced to fight for their right to co-exist among the masses. Time and patience will bear fruit…time and patience.

It had been rumored/speculated that the California Supreme Court would issue a ruling on the legality of Proposition 8 tomorrow (Thursday, May 21st) but the Court’s website states, “No opinions were announced for filing on Thursday, May 21, 2009.”

Looks like we’ll have to wait another week or more before we get the ruling. The Court has until June 3, 2009 to issue its ruling.

By the way, Harvey Milk would have turned 79 this Friday, May 22nd. Every gay person should take a moment to wish Harvey a happy birthday. Without him, we may not be where we are today. Happy Birthday, Harvey.

Late breaking news…sadly it appears the New Hampshire House has rejected the revised same-sex marriage bill. No word on what happens next.

Bebe Go Home!

Newly crowned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was here this week for his first visit since regaining power to meet with the President and Member of Congress.

The result of the talks was to agree to disagree. So what else is new? I mean, their way of doing things has worked beautifully for all of these years…if you consider million of innocent Israeli’s and Palestinian’s being killed because grown people (and I use that term loosely) can’t get over themselves and figure out how to one and for all co-exist with each other.

It’s being reported that on the return flight to Israel, one of Netanyahu’s aides was quoted as saying President Obama’s two-state solution was “childish and stupid.” Here’s what I say…since both sides seem interested in talking about anything but peace and are hell bent on destroying each other, let them do it without our money. Why are we continuing to fund both governments? We have nothing to show for it, other than the spit them seem to leave in our face.

Cut the damn funding and tell them to come calling when they are ready to sit down and work out a deal they will stick to for longer than 4 minutes.

Speaker…going home

Whether you believe the resignation of Michael Martin, speaker of the British House of Commons, was truly about party unity or not, you can not look past the historic event that took place in British politics this week. Martin is the first Speaker to be forced to stand down, whoops my bad, resign, in 300 years. That’s pretty telling for a number of reasons, but I think my British counterpart said it best, “He was generally inarticulate, did not know the rules of the House and was inept.”

If that's truly the case, it makes you wonder how in the hell has Prime Minister Gordon Brown held on to his job for as long as he has?

And from the files of you can’t make this sh*t up if you tried…

The right to bear arms…in class

The Texas State legislature today approved a bill that will allow college students and employees to carry their concealed handguns on campus.

The bill will allow college students who are at least 21 years old and licensed to carry concealed handguns to bring those weapons into state campus buildings.

University hospitals and athletic facilities would remain off limits to guns. Thank goodness for that…wouldn’t want someone packing heat during the badminton championships.

I know we like to make fun of Texas but as a friend of mine said, “this just lacks all kinds of common sense.”

TV Graveyard

In a move that can only be describe as slap in the braces, the powers to be at ABC will move the popular Ugly Betty to Friday night’s this fall…at 9:00 p.m.

Can anyone name the last show that survived such a drastic move? Who makes these decisions…monkeys? No wait they are highly intelligent, so it could have been them.

All I can say is if the show tanks in the rating and they take it off the air…well I don’t want to say right now. Let’s just wait and see. But keep in mind…I need my weekly fix of Suzuki St. Pierre, so for your sake you best be hoping the show defies the odds!
