Republican Outrage…at it’s best

Wow, I don’t even know where to begin.  Usually the truth helps, so let’s start there.

Am I guilty of making Michael Jackson jokes in the past…yes.  Who hasn’t uttered the infamous (and funny) ‘B10’ joke? Do I feel bad that I did that now that he’s gone?  No, it was a joke.  Does it mean that I had convicted him in my mind of being a child molester and/or pedophile? No…again it was a joke.

As far as I know, Michael was acquitted by a jury of all the charges brought against him, no?  OK, I hear you…so was OJ, but that was different.  We all know OJ killed Nicole and Ron without a shadow of a doubt.  The same can't be said for Michael as the evidence just wasn't as stong.  And the fact that he settled other claims made against him, doesn't make him guilty either.  It may not make him look good, but it doesn't automatically convict him either. At least that's the way I look at it…becuase when you get past all that talk, what you're left with is a music legend who brought joy to millions of people around thr world for decades — which is why the coverage has been wall-to-wall.  Right or wrong.

I bring this up because classless Congressman Peter King (R-NY) seems to have more information about Michael than anyone else and has thus convicted him of being a child molester and pedophile in the narrow-minded courtroom known as his brain. And if that wasn’t bad enough, the poor thing is beside himself with anger over the coverage Michael’s death has gotten.

King, who I have always thought was an idiot…and not just because he’s a Republican (just listen to him talk and you’ll know why)…went on a rant this weekend regarding the coverage Michael’s death has been getting — while he standing in front of an American Legion Hall.  While praising the efforts and sacrifice many of our brave men and women who serve and protect this great country of ours have made, King make a right turn into a tirade about how the media’s non-stop coverage of Michael’s death, someone who he describes as a “low life” is disgraceful.

Now to be fair, the Congressman was trying to say that the coverage is being over blown and that the media should focus more on brave heroes who serve and die protecting our freedoms.

Two things Mr. King…

  1. We should be honoring the fallen heroes who die every day in the line of duty?  Yes we should.  But I don’t recall you standing up and saying that it was WRONG that our fallen heroes were forced to come home under the cloak of darkness (under the Bush administration) so that the media couldn’t provide visual documentation regarding the number of casualties that were mounting.  And if you did, you certainly didn’t make as much of a fuss as you did this weekend regarding the Jackson coverage, so if you please, shut up.

  2.  No one wants to hear what you think is/isn’t politically correct.  If you want to rant about  ‘low-life’s how about starting with the members of your party who while they preach family values and good government, are out having affairs all while using tax payer money for their secret sexcapades.

Bottom line is, with all that’s going on right now, the media coverage of Michael Jackson’s death is what outrages Peter King.  Never mind the fact that his home State’s State Government is joke, thanks in-part to the members of his party – although the Democrats are equally to blame.  The coverage and outpouring of grief over a man who brought joy to millions of people across the world for decades…this gets Peter King boiling over.

As always, it’s good to see those Republican values and priorities are once again being put to good use.
