10-Year Old Refuses to Say Pledge in Stand for Gay Rights

Now if a 10-year old can get it, why is it so difficult for others?

A 10-year old boy from West Fork, Arkansas has decided (all on his own apparently) that he will no longer stand and recite the Pledge of Allegiance at school because he doesn't believe there is liberty and justice for all — especially when it comes to gay rights.

As you can imagine, even though it is his right to choose this form of protest, his decision has not been received well by many.

So I ask – what is it about free speech that people just don't seem to get?  Is it ignorance or is it just and inability to comprehend the true meaning of the Constitution?

And what's with the sudden age limit on when you’re allowed to exercise your right to freedom of speech?  Watch the story (by clicking the link below) to the end and listen to some of the feedback from viewers who seem to believe you have to be a certain age to be afforded the right to free speech.

I say good for this young man for recognizing a wrong and for voicing his opinion about it.  And I commend his parents for standing behind him even if they are divided on his cause.  It just doesn't get more American than that.
