CJ's 2009 Lists – Top 10 Songs of 2009 — #9
You know the drill…over the next 10 days (I'll be skipping Christmas Day), I'm posting my top 10 songs of 2009.
As a reminder — the criteria for my selections are basted on three simple facts…
1. How many months did a song make it to my monthly iPhone playlist;
2. How many plays does it have in my iTunes;
3. The song must have been released no later than October of the previous year.

You had to know it wouldn't be long before Madonna made her way to the list.
I honestly liked this song the first time I heard it, and love it to this day. But then again I've always been a sucker for one of Madge's ballads.
The song, which she openly admits was about her [now former] husband Guy Ritchie, was a 'bit player' in the tabloid onslaught leading up to her split and eventual divorce from Guy. She of course added to the onslaught, as only Madonna can, during several stops on her Sticky & Sweet tour, including one of the shows I saw in New York, by dedicating the song to the "emotionally retarded," which of course everyone assumed was a dig at Ritchie.
As with most Madonna songs, there are several good remixes out there. One of the best is the 'Thin White Duke Remix Edit – http://bit.ly/6Iz7m2,' which was played prominently throughout the year on XM Radio's 'BPM' and on the Internet radio station "Pride Radio."
But the original stands on on it's own.
Song number 9 of 2009 on my top 10 songs is Madonna's 'Miles Away.'
