CJ's 2009 Lists – Top 10 Songs of 2009 — #4
OK, so I'm loving the emails/feedback about the countdown! Here are a few select responses…
AF – Thanks for the kinds words and good idea re to remixes of the year. I'll put together a list!
ZG – You are a mess-o-something and I love it!!! I think you'll be surprised with the number 1 song — which I decided this morning in the shower!
MM – I'm not really sure I understand your question but I'll try to respond as best I can. I was a DJ in college and if I could, I'd love to be a DJ on a Satellite radio station. I think I'd play a mix of music that no one else does that would appeal to a great many people.
Anyway, thanks again for all the great questions and comments. Now as Casey Kasem used to say, back to the countdown.
As a reminder — the criteria for my selections are basted on three simple facts…
1. How many months did a song make it to my monthly iPhone playlist;
2. How many plays does it have in my iTunes;
3. The song must have been released no later than October of the previous year.
Here's a recap of the countdown thus far…
10. Beyonce 'Single Ladies'
9. Madonna 'Miles Away'
8. Lily Allen "The Fear'
7. Mariah Carey "Obsessed'
6. Whitney Houston "Million Dollar Bill"
5. Agnes "Release Me"
The countdown continues…
All I can say is DAMN! While most of the emails and messages I've been getting about the list have been positive, about every other message is where's Gaga? I though she was your girl?
Well she is…which is why she hasn't appeared in the countdown until now…and why she will be the only artist to appear in my top 5 songs of 2009 TWICE. OKAAAAAAAY??
Clearly everyone was Gaga for the Lady this year, even The Queen looked to be in awe of this unique and talented performer.
Make no mistake about it, Madonna is still and always will be my Queen, but if Gaga keeps it up, I may just have two Queens to worship. I'm just saying. What?? I'm gay…get over it. 🙂
By the way, if you didn't see Madge and Gaga's appearance TOGETHER on Saturday Night Live it's a must see — http://bit.ly/5zNDxL
I'll admit, it took a while for me to get into Just Dance and Poker Face, but this song was a YES the very first time I heard it on Pride Radio. And while the video for the song was the first hint that she was for real, her performance at the MTV Music Awards clinched it for me.
While I love the "Demolition Crew Remix" – http://bit.ly/7dMiz7 the official video of the song is FANTASTIC and thus deserves to be posted by itself.
Song number 4 on the countdown is Lady Gaga's "Paparazzi"
