That’s My Jam!!!!

I have to be honest, all the comments I have received over the past week have made this exercise a great deal of fun. A HUGE thank you to everyone who has taken the time to send me a message.

For the final time, the criteria I used to select my best songs of 2009 are as follows…

1. How many months did a song make it to my monthly iPhone playlist;

2. How many plays does it have in my iTunes;

3. The song must have been released no later than October of the previous year.

Before we get to the top song, here's a recap of songs 2-10…

10. Beyonce 'Single Ladies'

 9. Madonna 'Miles Away'

 8. Lily Allen "The Fear'

 7. Mariah Carey "Obsessed'

 6. Whitney Houston "Million Dollar Bill"

 5. Agnes "Release Me"

 4. Lady Gaga "Paparazzi"

 3. Black Eyed Peas "I Got a Feeling" / Cascada "Evacuate the Dancefloor"/ Madonna "Celebration"

 2. Lady Gaga "Bad Romance"

And now…

My friends and I have a running joke (it's really a phrase) when it comes to songs we love…"That's My Jam!"  Many songs over the years have been given this distinction by us and in most cases we're being serious about loving the song.

This summer there was one song that at one time or another we all claimed to be our jam.  It started with Brandon, my roommate who pretty much loved the song the first time he heard it.  Here's what you need to understand about Brandon…if he loves a song…you're gonna know it because he is not shy about playing it.  Luckily this was one of those songs you couldn't help but like and then love. And once I loved it, I couldn't stop listening to it.

While it hasn't been on my monthly playlist for the past two months, it was the most played song on my iTunes this year…until Bad Romance came along.  Once that happened, I had to put all the pieces together to determine which song should be number 1.

It came down to number of months on my playlist.  Bad Romance has been on my playlist for 3 months.  Our number 1 song was on my playlist for 6 months. It's probably safe to say if the songs were released at the same time Bad Romance could have won out.  I guess 3 months from now if it's still on my playlist, we'll know the answer for sure.

As for the song…if Lady Gaga was the artist of the year, then David Guetta was the DJ of the year. His album, "One Love" features artists including Akon, Estelle and a fabulous singer who made the first track from the album m number 1 song of 2009 — Kelly Rowland.

My number 1 'Jam' for 2009 is David Guetta's "When Love Takes Over" featuring Kelly Rowland.
