Just a couple of quick thoughts on this my (not audible) birthday….
Thanks Mom. Still loving and missing you every day.
A GREAT BIG thank you to everyone who has taken the time to send me a birthday greeting via text, email, Facebook, Twitter, and/or smoke signal. I can’t say enough how truly fortunate I feel to have so many amazing friends.
Finally, as my birthday falls on National Coming Out Day, I ask that all my friends join me as I dedicate my special day to all those who are still struggling with who they are. Believe me when I say, life is so much better when you stop listening to the hate and ignorance of others (for example — the Republican nominee for Governor of the State of New York). Do not let these sad and pathetic people dictate how you live your life.
Live your life and know that you will be loved for just being who you are.
My Birthday Jam – Erasure "Hideaway"
One day the boy decided
To let them know the way he felt inside
He could not stand to hide it
His mother she broke down and cried
Oh my father
Why don't you talk to me now
Oh my mother
Do you still cry yourself to sleep
Are you still proud of your little boy
Don't be afraid (Be afraid)
You don't have to hide away
The boy he was rejected
By the people that he cared for
It's not what they expected
But he could not keep it secret anymore
Far from home now
Waiting by the telephone
There's a new world
You can make it on your own
Are you still proud of your little boy
Don't be afraid (Be afraid)
You don't have to hide away
No
(Don't be afraid)
(Love will mend your broken wing)
(Time will slip away)
(Learn to be brave)
Oh my father
Why don't you talk to me now
Oh my mother
Do you still cry yourself to sleep
Are you still proud of your little boy
Don't be afraid (be afraid)
You don't have to hide away
(Don't be afraid)
(Love will mend your broken wing)
(Time will slip away)
(Learn to be brave)
