CJ's 2010 Lists – Top 10 Songs of 2010 — #6

You know the drill…over the next 6 days (I'll be skipping tomorrow, Christmas Day although I will be post a little sumpin something tomorrow including some of the responses I've gotten thus far), I'm posting my top songs of 2010.

As a reminder — the criteria for my selections are basted on three simple facts…

1. How many months did a song make it to my monthly iPhone playlist;

2. How many plays does it have in my iTunes;

3. The song must have been released no later than October of the previous year.

Rihanna has had herself a pretty good year. With the whole Chris Brown incident behind her, it was all about the music in 2010 for the talented songstress who has put out two albums in the same time frame.

Two of her songs found their way on on my monthly playlist this year and both have found their way onto this year's countdown at number 6.

The first song up was from her much anticipated Rated R album which was released in November 2009. It's the second song from the album, after 'Russian Roulette' and it continued her transformation from the pop artist who belted out 'Umbrella' to a true R&B diva.

I know you may find this shocking, but I prefer the Jody Den Broeder club mix version of the song with its hot beat and tempo to the original version, which on its own is also very good.

Here is Rihanna's 'Hard.'

The second song made its debut on my monthly playlist just this month, a clear oversight given the rising number of iTunes plays, and it has fast become my second favorite Rihanna song. I admit with no shame that 'Umbrella' is still my favorite Rihanna jam.

The song, from her recently released Loud album, meshes her unique vocal talent with a fantastic rhythm, and lately has been the song that 'gets me going' in the morning during my commute to work.

Not only do I believe the song will ultimately end up with more plays than 'Hard' it may overtake 'Umbrella' as my favorite Rihanna jam….though let's not get crazy…yet.

The second of my number 6 songs of 2010 with 144 iTunes plays is "Only Girl in the World.'
