CJ's 2010 Lists – Top 10 Songs of 2010 — #4
You know the drill…over the next 4 days, I'm posting my top songs of 2010.
As a reminder — the criteria for my selections are basted on three simple facts…
1. How many months did a song make it to my monthly iPhone playlist;
2. How many plays does it have in my iTunes;
3. The song must have been released no later than October of the previous year.
Here's the countdown thus far…
10. Kelly Rowland (feat. David Guetta) 'Commander'
9. Train 'Hey, Soul Sister'
8. Alex Cornish 'Don't Hold Me Back' & Christina Aguilera 'Bound to You'
7. Bastien Laval 'Restlessness (Wendel Kos edit)
6. Rihanna 'Hard' & 'Only Girl in the World'
5. Shontelle 'Impossible (Riddler remix)
The countdown continues…
It's like deja vu all over again. Last year Lady Gaga didn't appear on the countdown until song number 4 and she ended up with two songs in the top 5. This year will be no different. The only question is…will she get to the top spot on my countdown this year.
I don't think I really need to rehash my love and devotion to Mama Monster…it's well documented. So let's just get to the music.
The video for this song made its HOT debut in June…and it did not disappoint. While the video created a huge stir, much like Madonna's 1989 'Like a Prayer,' overall reaction to the video was mixed. If you were a Gaga fan (aka Monster) or just someone who appreciates creativity, then you liked/appreciated the video. Those who aren't a fan, didn't exactly dislike the video, but they questioned the 'religious symbolism' behind it. Thankfully the debate didn't go places where the 'Like a Prayer' debate did.
Oh, and by the way — the actual song is pretty damn good!
Coming in at number 4 on this year's countdown – Lady Gaga 'Alejandro'
