… it’s easy for the likes of someone like Senator Tom Coburn to come up with a proposal to end all proposals. His grand idea to cut the deficit by $9 trillion includes raising the retirement age to 70, cutting farm subsidies, $2.6 trillion in Medicare over 10 years — while also raising the cost for premiums for doctor visits, student aid, housing subsidies for the poor, and funding for community development grants.
AND THE KICKER — Coburn’s proposal calls for our veterans’, who already get shoddy post war treatment, to pay more for medical care & prescription drugs.
It’s bad enough Republican’s continue to try find ways to screw over the poor and middle class, while protecting the wealthy under the guise of “trickle down economics,” but my God, how many sacrifices do we have to ask of our brave men and women who put their lives on the line to protect this nation?
