Fact vs. Truth I

(Fact vs. Truth is a new series that will highlight the difference between a Republican “Fact” versus’ what the truth is behind stated fact.)

Fact: Republicans are all about decreasing the size of government and getting “big brother” off our damn backs. Case in point, when Rick Perry was announcing his candidacy for President of the United States he boldly proclaimed, “I’ll work every day to try to make Washington, D.C., as inconsequential in your lives as I can.”

Truth: However, like most Republican statements, that one carries a hint of truth while barely passing the smell test. The fact of the matter is, Republicans are all about big brother getting off our damn backs except when it comes to telling us who we can love, who we can marry, or whether or not a certain person fits their criteria for raising a child or joining the military.  And then of course, there is their 38-year battle to overturn the ruling that gave women the right to choose. But as usual,  digress.
