I honestly couldn’t help myself. When I discovered that my first tie in the countdown was a 3-way, at number 9 I burst out in laughter. How perfect!! Thanks Herman Cain. Apparently you were good for something after all!
Since I know the question will come, it always does, let me explain why I don’t use tie-breakers in my countdown. Oh wait…I just did. It’s my countdown, lol. As someone who thinks of music as oxygen, I just don’t see the point in limiting how many songs I’m allowed to love during the course of a calendar year.
So before we get to my awesome threesome, here again is the criteria I use when making my selections…
1. All songs must have been released no later than September of the previous year;
2. The number of combined plays in my all of my iTunes;
3. The number of months a song appeared on my monthly iPhone playlist.
Back to the countdown…
Before I forget, a great big thank-you for all the comments for song number 10. Britney certainly inspires a WIDE range of discussion, lol. I’ll be certain to post comments over the course of the countdown as I do every year.
Our first song number at number 9 is the oldest song on the countdown. Released in September of 2010, I have to admit this song wasn’t even on my radar until late summer, and didn’t make it to my playlist until a year after its release. Of course after I discovered it, I couldn’t wait to tell my friend Eileen, who I thought would be very impressed. Yeah…not so much, lol as I got, “Well it’s about time.” How can you not love her, lol!
Song number 9A is Foster the People’s Pumped Up Kicks
Next up is the Swedish sensation the gays just can’t ever seem to get enough of. No, I’m not talking about ABBA. I’m talking about the amazing Robyn, who just keeps doing her thang year after year after year.
In 2010, she released Body Talk to rave reviews from the critics and fans alike. The album features several fantastic singles including Dancing on our Own and the second song to land at number 9 – Indestructible. [I’ve chosen remix version, which was the version I played the most. Here is a link to the original version of the song – Indestructible]
Our final song at number 9 is the first of two songs from this artist to make the countdown this year. Every song on her chart topping album 21 tears at your heart in a different way. It is truly one of the best albums of the year, and she is just so adorable, you can’t help but love her.
Song 9C on the countdown is Adele with Rolling in the Deep
