And then there were two, and at long last GAGA has found her way on to the countdown.
For the third year in a row, the fabulous Lady Gaga finds herself in the number 2 spot on my countdown.
I have loved this song from the moment Gaga gave us a taste of it. It was during her concert on the Today show–July 9, 2010. I remember the day well, because later that night I got to witness our fabulous Mother Monster in all her “Monster Ball” glory at Madison Square Garden.
Patiently I waited for her to record the song and release it, and when her album Born this Way finally dropped earlier this year, it was the first song I listened to. And let’s just say I was VERY pleased with the produced version.
When she introduced it on the Today show, she called it a rock n’ roll song–and indeed it is. When I listen to the song, I hear what I believe is a not to subtle homage to one of Queen’s greatest songs, We Will Rock You, which only makes me love it even more.
I know there are as many Gaga haters out there as there are Little Monsters, and for the haters I simply say this—you don’t have to approve or appreciate her style or the way she looks, but if you can’t look past that to appreciate her music, then you are not a fan of good music. She is a talent that comes around every so often…the likes of Elton John, Billy Joel, Freddie Mercury, Jimi Hendrix and Jim Morrison, among others. She truly has a gift and she’s not afraid to use it and share it with others.
Song number 2 on the countdown was the fourth single to be released from Born This Way.
Here is Lady Gaga’ You and I…
