November, November…NOVEMBER! Almost to the end of another year. In the immortal words of Phil Rizzuto, “Holy Cow!”
If you live on the East Coast of the United States and have been dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy and yesterday’s Nor’easter…I feel your pain! It has been a trying 10-day span, and while I have to say I was truly lucky — I only lost power for 5 days and have had to deal with a difficult but not impossible new commute, so many other people have it way worse.
In times like this, I do what I always do…I turn to music. It is the one true constant on my life that has never let me down. Don’t get we wrong, I have the most amazing friends (who are not like family…they ARE family) who I know are always there for me no matter what. But my bond with music is indescribable. It just is.
This month is a mixed bag of “blocks” and newbies. It’s no secret that my inner teenage girl/boy is showing big time as I’ve fallen in deep like with Taylor Swift. Her new album Red is “real good yo,” and two of the tracks from the album have made their way to the list. Also new this month are songs I have loved for sometime that hadn’t found their way to the list until now. They include Coldplay’s “Paradise” and Ellie Goulding’s “Lights.” Rihanna’s “Diamonds” has been burning up my iPhone for the past month as has Lana Del Rey’s “Ride” and I hate to say it because it’s hard to support this idiot, but so to is Chris Brown’s “Turn Up the Music.”
The featured “blocks” this month hit three different music genres – country (a first for me), 90’s alternative and a special 80’s alternative featuring many of the songs I grew up listening to on the best alternative station in the world, WLIR (92.7).
So there you have it. I hope wherever you are, you can take a moment to enjoy the music, and as always, feel free to subscribe to the playlist on Spotify by clicking here – November to Remember.
God bless all those still in need, and by the way if you’d like to help the victims of Hurricane Sandy, please donate to the American Red Cross.
Thanks as always for reading and commenting. Have a great month everyone!
