Can I get an AMEN! May is finally here and so too (well at least in some places) is warm weather!!!
I’ve been working on this month’s playlist for the past couple of weeks. That’s not as unusual as you may think. Typically, I start dumping songs I think of into a new playlist mid-month in preparation for the coming month and then begin to sort it out as the month inches closer. OK, maybe that is a bit unusual…but if you’re a regular reader of my Blog, then, well….you’re not new.
The drive for this month’s list basically came from a longing of nostalgia. A lot has changed for me over the past decade, as I’m sure it has for many of you. Change is inevitable. Part of the reason why I love music as much as I do, is that no matter how much things change, music has a way of bringing you back to where ever it is you want to be. That’s how powerful it truly is.
Over the past decade names such as Ercola, The Shapeshifters, Rosabel, Kim Sozzi, Chris Cox, Moto Blanco, Bimbo Jones and Peter Rauhofer…to name a few…have graced my monthly playlists numerous times. This month, they and others are the stars of the playlist, which I have aptly named “A Decade of Recent Jams.”
All of the tracks below, are roughly 10 years old. Granted, some of the songs maybe a tad older, like Christina Aguilera’s “Beautiful,” which was released in 2002. The remix version, however, was officially released in 2006. Well to be fair, an album of remixes of the song was released in 2006, but if you love this song, as I do, then you know there is only one true remix version of this song, and it belongs to the famed DJ master Peter Rauhofer. Sadly, it was recently disclosed that Peter has a brain tumor. I want to take a moment to send my love and prayers to a man who has brought many days and nights of joy to me and millions of people around the world. All of your fans are with you and praying for your recovery.
