Many thanks to everyone who has commented thus far. I really love getting your messages! I was reminded yesterday that I have neglected to reiterate the criteria I use each year to chose my top songs of the year. So…

1. (Every year) Each song must have been released by September 1, 2013

2. (Every year) Each song must appear on the monthly playlist

3. (This year) Each song must have amassed more than 75 plays in order to be considered

And while we’re reviewing things…let’s review the countdown thus far…

The Bottom 10 of 2014

#10. Bang, Bang – Jessie J, Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj

And then…there were four.

This was by far the “song of the summer.” It was literally EVERYWHERE!

My friend Jonathan is responsible for introducing me to this song, during one of our Saturday beach days this summer.

I loved it instantly not only because it was a good song, but because he was so enthusiastic about it.

It’s just one of those songs that makes you happy every time you hear it.

The song is by a very talented British Band that I have come to like very much. They have quite a unique sound, one that I hope will be receiving more airplay in the very near future.

Song #4 for 2014 is Clean Bandit’s “Rather Be.”
