Top 10 Songs of 2014 – #3

yellow

Thanks to Trevor for pointing out what should have been obvious…I started the countdown a day too early. Instead of starting on the 21st, I began on the 20th…meaning at this pace, I would have reached number 1 tomorrow, instead of on Wednesday (12/31).

This is why I held #3 until today. Thanks again Trevor!!

Mathematics out of the way, let’s review the countdown thus far…

The Bottom 10 of 2014

#10. Bang, Bang – Jessie J, Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj

#9.   West Coast – Lana Del Rey

#8.   Cardiac Arrest – Bad Suns

#7.    I’m Not the Only One – Sam Smith

#6.    Ain’t it Fun – Paramore

#5.    Team – Lorde

#4.    Rather Be – Clear Bandit (ft. Jess Glynne)

And then….there were three.

This is the only artist this year to appear in the top 10 twice, to be more specific, she’s the only artist to appear in the Top 5…twice.

Every movie has a theme song, some memorable some not so memorable. And some theme songs have turned out to be better than the movie. So when word came that the theme song for one of the most anticipated movies of the year was to be sung by an artist I have already made know I adore, I was more than pleased.

What was even better — I loved the song instantly!! Yes, that seemed to happen a lot this year, to which I say proudly….and what?!! Of course it appears the breakout song from the movie is JLaw’s “Hanging Tree.” But of course it is….anything JLaw touches turns to gold!

Anyway, song #3 was the “spotlight” song for the October 2014 playlist, and has been a mainstay on the playlist since — generating a great number of plays in just three months.

While I wouldn’t go as far as to say I loved Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part. 1, I did enjoy it and I’m most certainly looking forward to the conclusion. I’m also looking forward to some new music from this talented sensation.

Song #3 for 2014 is Lorde’s “Yellow Flicker Beat.”
