CJ’s iPhone Playlist – January 2015

Happy New Year!!!

I hope everyone had a smooth transition into 2015!

I’m kicking off the year fast and furious with a playlist that has a wee bit of everything.

Sprinkled through the list are many of the songs that appeared in the 2014 Top 10 including my #1 song Tove Lo’s “Habits (Stay High)” which is marking its 10th straight month of the playlist. “I Choose You,” “Rather Be,” and “Bang Bang” are the other Top 10 songs of 2014 appearing on the list.

Newbies this month include a song that I discovered in the fall of last year and liked instantly…that I completely forgot about until I heard it again a week ago — Hozier’s “Take Me to Church.” Several collaborations have found their way on the list for the first time including Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars’, “Uptown Funk,” Gwen Stefani and Pharrell’s, “Shine,”  Nicki Minaj and Skylar Grey’s, “Bed of Lies” and Alesso’s collaboration with Tove Lo, “Hereos (We Could Be).” Other newbies this month include two new instant favs — Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space,”and the third song from Ed Sheeran’s amazing album “X” to appear on the monthly playlist, “Thinking Out Loud.”

Rounding out the list are some of my old school favs from the likes of Indigo Girls, Filter, Dido, Jason Mraz, Kelly Clarkson, Deborah Cox, Lady Gaga, Peter Gabriel and of course — Madonna.

Feel free to listen and/or subscribe to this month’s playlist vis Spotify – January 2015. I’m going to try to make an effort to remember to include a YouTube link to songs on the playlist that aren’t in the Spotify library. This month that includes Peter Gabriel’s classic, “Mercy Street,” Taylor’s “Blank Space,” and a remix of Blur’s “Girls and Boys”
