A Prideful Month of Music – CJ’s June 2015 Playlist

Happy Pride to all my readers!

Just how happy this Pride month will be, depends on what the Supreme Court will rule on Marriage Equality in just a few weeks.

Still, it’s important to embrace, celebrate and remember the struggle it has taken for the LGBT community to gain equal footing here in the United States and abroad. As President Obama said in his Proclamation for LGBT Month, “…tremendous progress has been won by determined individuals who stood up, spoke out, and shared their stories.” The fight is far from over, and while for many, Pride month is a time to celebrate with parades and parties, please also take a moment to remember and thank all those who paved the way for us to have a Pride Month to celebrate.

Speech aside, this month’s playlist is the biggest ever. In the past, I have created a June playlist and a separate playlist. This year I’ve combined them into one 50-song playlist, that I am beyond enjoying!

There are only two newbies on the list this month…Sia’s masterful cover of California Dreamin’, from the “San Andreas” soundtrack and Wiz Khalifa’s, See You Again, from the “Furious 7” soundtrack.

The other 48-songs are a mix of songs 2015 songs including Lean On, Centuries, Invisible Ways, Trouble, I Don’t Like It, Elastic Heart, Piece By Piece, Lonesome Street and Dear Future Husband; oldies but goodies from the likes of Enrique Iglesias, Of Monsters and Men, Lana Del Rey, Paramore, Grouplove, Blur, and Evanescene; a few serious blasts from the past from Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey, Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam and Lisette Melendez – and a heavy topping of Pride-themed songs from Deborah Cox, Madonna, Lady Gaga, Agnes, Diana Ross, Kristine W, Christina Aguilera, Tamia, Reina, Erasure, Heather Small, Ultra Nate, Stars o 54, Whitney Houston and Donna Summer!
