Truth be told, I’m really sorry to see August go because I really and truly loved August: New Wave 90s Dance Party! And judging by all the notes I got, I wasn’t the only one…so thank you!! It was truly the best of all my music loves!!
But alas a new month is upon us and it’s time for a new list.
There isn’t a song on this list that isn’t iconic. They are all classics in their own right, and while many of them pre-date a good number of my readers, I suspect they will be recognizable as many of them have been used in TV shows and movies over the past few years including Glee, The Sopranos, Ally McBeal and Sex and the City.
So what does “Rockin’ with Soul” mean? Well it means while grooving to the soulful sounds of Marvin Gaye, Barry White, Amy Winehouse, Otis Redding, James Brown, Sade, Anita Baker, Luther Vandross and Seal we’ll also be rocking it out with the likes of Bruce Springsteen, Joe Cocker, Blondie, Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, Annie Lennox, and Aerosmith.
Rolling in the Deep, Don’t Stop Belivin’, A Change is Gonna Come, Chain of Fools, Sign Your Name and Unchained Melody are just six of the 32 songs that make up this month’s playlist of true classics. It’s an awesome mix of soul and rock that I hope you’ll enjoy.
Feel free to have a listen via Spotify and/or Apple Music and be sure to let me know what you think! I’ll be posting my Top 10 Songs of September early next week.
I’m undecided what next month’s theme will be…although I’m leaning towards something along the lines of best cover songs.
In the meanwhile, enjoy the music…and thanks as always for reading and reaching out to me!
