The Dangerous Truth About the Republican Field for POTUS

commentary

Part of what I find so appalling about the Republicans running for President is their lack of tact and common sense, especially when it comes to National Security.

They all seem to think the only way to gain an edge on each other is to say and be as reckless as possible. Each one of them somehow believes that by saying they will freely bomb countries at will, who don’t conform to their ideas and demands is what qualifies as good foreign policy.

WRONG!

It’s a reckless, ridiculous and dangerous precedent they are setting. Their idiotic rhetoric is being heard by our allies and enemies. And no matter how many times they bend the truth and lie, the FACT remains — the invasion of Iraq created Isis. You want to say POTUS didn’t acknowledge their threat soon enough…fine, but stop saying they were created on his watch or because he was weak. Neither is true.

If they or the people who support them blindly don’t want to believe that Barack Obama has been a good President not only domestically but internationally, fine. You’re all entitled to you opinions…just don’t mistake your opinions for facts.

Thirty-two years ago a TV movie made a profound impact on a President these idiots all claim to admire and mold themselves after…when nothing could be further from the truth.

In his memoirs, Ronald Reagan wrote that the 1983 TV movie The Day After, “…was very effective and left him depressed.” Four years later, President Reagan would sign the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty, eliminating nuclear and conventional ground-launched ballistic and cruise missiles with intermediate ranges.

If that movie was aired today, these fools would look at it and dismiss it the same way they do everything else. Because facts…they mean nothing to them or the people who support them.

So…think about that….then watch the horrifying clip from movie, that while fictional, helped make the world a safer place.
