Dear Basic,
You’re probably wondering why I didn’t refer to you as “Anonymous” which is how your signed your message to me. I’ll get to that in just a bit.
Thank you for your eloquently written email as to why Donald Trump is going to make “America Great Again!”
To be honest, I don’t have time to go point by point with you (nobody has that kind of time). You were very thorough.
But there’s one thing I still don’t quite understand. In fact, it’s the one thing I’ve never really understood. Exactly what period are you, Mr. Trump and all his followers looking to as “the time when America was great?”
Was it back in the days when women didn’t have the right to vote? Or was it when black people were treated as property and less than human? How about in the 1970’s when poverty was rampant to the point it nearly crippled the City of New York as well as many other urban and rural cities across the country? Could it have been in the 1980’s, when the government ignored an epidemic that was killing its citizens simply because it was perceived to be a “gay plague?”
Please don’t roll your eyes. These are legitimate questions. Especially since all of these instances — when entire classes of United States citizens have been held back or discriminated against — span many decades.
You see, Basic, this is why people believe you, Mr. Trump and the others who support him are racists. You keep talking of this great time in America. But for many of us who have felt the betrayal of our country, we’re having a hard time picturing this great time you all speak of, because for us the struggle is not only real…its ongoing.
I keep hoping that Mr. Trump will stop talking about himself, his standing in the polls or picking fights with whomever he believes will get him the most applause and begin explaining how exactly he’s going to make America great again, but alas it’s always the same thing. Apparently, he’s tapped into your anger — and from the sounds of it you’re all very angry. Although I’m not really sure what it is you’re all angry about. Hence the lack of details from your candidate.
So in the end, I guess we’ll just have to continue to agree to disagree on the virtues of the glorious Mr. Trump.
Now, as promised, here’s why I changed your name from Anonymous to Basic.
There are two reasons really.
First, you seem to have forgotten that as a supporter of Mr. Trump, you no longer have to wear your white sheet. As a Trump supporter, you’re free to speak your mind because you don’t have to adhere to political correctness, manners or anything that has to do with treating your fellow citizen or any human being, for that matter, with respect. So, sign your name…proudly!
The other reason, and this is the most important one…you forgot the one rule I have when coming for me.
Don’t.
