This video of people throwing snowballs at NYPD officers is unacceptable.
But it is no less disturbing than watching federal ICE agents beat, and in two instances kill, American citizens on the streets of Minnesota. Throwing snowballs at police officers is wrong. It’s reckless, it’s disrespectful, and it shouldn’t be excused.
And while it’s not equivalent, and certainly not on the same moral plane, as federal agents beating, shooting, and killing people, the underlying point behind my original thought remains the same.
MAGA is of course outraged, calling New York (under a Muslim Mayor) a “jungle” and “out of control.”
They are nothing if not consistent with their selective and whinny outrage. MAGA’s reaction to this video…branding New York, under a Muslim mayor, as a “jungle” and “out of control,” is yet another example of their selective and whiny outrage.
Their hypocrisy is glaring. Their outrage is never about law and order, it’s about who they CHOOSE to hold accountable.
My apologies for conflating the two. They are not equivalent, and I should have been clearer in making that distinction. Thank you for calling me out and forcing me to revisit my thinking.
