In the Top Spot…Again

CJ's 2010 Lists – Top 10 Songs of 2010 — NUMBER 1

Boy this year flew by…but then again I guess at this time of year, we always feel that way.

Before I reveal my number one song for 2010, I want to thank you all again for following the countdown and for all of your comments. Honestly, it's a fun/silly thing to do, but it allows me to share my love of music, which is never a bad thing.

So, for the last time, here's the criteria I use for my selections…

1. How many months did a song make it to my monthly iPhone playlist;

2. How many plays does it have in my iTunes;

3. The song must have been released no later than October of the previous year.

And here's a recap of the countdown thus far…

10. Kelly Rowland (feat. David Guetta) 'Commander'

  9.  Train 'Hey, Soul Sister'

  8.  Alex Cornish 'Don't Hold Me Back' & Christina Aguilera 'Bound to You'

  7.  Bastien Laval 'Restlessness (Wendel Kos edit)'

  6.  Rihanna 'Hard' & 'Only Girl in the World'

  5.  Shontelle 'Impossible (Riddler remix)'

  4.  Lady Gaga 'Alejandro'

  3.  Edward Maya (feat.Vika Jigulina) 'Stereo Love'

  2.  Lady Gaga 'Telephone (Kaskade radio edit)'

And now….NUMBER ONE….

I will admit, there's a wee bit of controversy with my number 1 song. The controversy stems from the actual release date of the song, which some list as August 2009. This of course would make the song ineligible for my countdown according to my criteria. However, while technically correct (the album was released in August 2009, and the song was released earlier in other countries), it was the third song to be released from the album here in the States, and that release date is October 23, 2009. So while I'm pretty sure I heard the song prior to the October release date last year, officially we're OK.

With that out of the way…as I mentioned the other day, this was the only song to appear on my monthly playlist all 12 months of the year. In fact, it has been on my playlist for a total of 14-months straight.

The song is a spectacular collaboration between one of the hottest DJs in the world (for over two years running) and an extremely talented singer, and comes from an album that has produced numerous chart topping tracks, including a song that topped my countdown last year, "When Loves Takes Over."

With all the great songs that were released in 2010, a few of you may be surprised by my number one song, but I can truly say without hesitation that I LOVE everything about this song (lyrics, overall message, video, etc.), so for me it's a no brainer.

My number one song for 2010 (if you haven't figured it out by now) is David Guetta's (feat. Estelle) 'One Love.'
