NYC TLC Issues Zone Fares for all Taxis

From NY1…

The Taxi and Limousine Commission is looking to make it easier for New Yorkers to get around during the storm.

It’s letting livery cabs, black cars, limousines and commuter vans pick up street hails starting at 9 a.m.

The city has set up six weather emergency taxi and livery zones: Manhattan North of 60th Street, Manhattan South of 60th Street, Brooklyn, the Bronx, Queens, and Staten Island.

Fares are $10 per person to travel within one zone, and $5 more to enter another zone.

Group rides are also being encouraged.

  1. On Sunday, Aug 28 at approx 2pm I hailed a cab on 43rd and 10th in Manhattan…i asked to go to Astoria Queens (32-62 47th st) Can you confirm what the fare should have been based on the TLC’s amended Hurricane fare structure.

I went from zone A to zone E.
I think I was over charged, but am not sure.

    Thanks,
    Ed

  2. Ed, thanks for your comment. I would suggest you contact the TLC directly to ask this question. They can be reached at 212 639-9675 or through 311.

    Good luck!
