I must have been crazy to agree to an absolute Top 10 Songs of 2014. TOO MANY GOOD SONGS TO CHOOSE FROM!
But I did it! The kick-off to my Top 10 Countdown of 2014 will happen tomorrow (Saturday, December 20th) and continue everyday (with the exception of Christmas Day), until we reach #1 on New Year’s Eve.
What about the other songs I loved deeply in 2014? Well, I’ve bunched them together in what I’m calling – “The Bottom 10.” Clever…right???!
Before I go any further, I want to take a moment to dedicate this year’s countdown the the man who expanded my love of music through his unique weekly Top 40. Of course the man I speak of is the one and the only Casey Kasem.
His long-distance dedications are the stuff of what legends are made of…and he certainly was one. It was an honor listening to him every weekend while growing up, and his influence helped shape the type of DJ I was during my college radio station days. Casey, thank you.
The Bottom 10 is a great mix of songs that very easily could have been in the Top 10, and will most likely in some of the numerous countdowns that will begin shortly. Just look at the line-up of artists: Ed Sheeran, John Legend, Katy Perry, Sia and one of 2014’s sensations, who was “All About That Base,” Meghan Trainor.
2014 was definitely the year of the love song — thanks mainly to Mr. Legend’s soulful crooning of “All of Me.” Even if you weren’t lucky in love this year….HELLO…this song was impossible to hate. In fact, it made you want to love.
And so….without further delay, I give you (drum roll please….) The Bottom 10!
Oh and one more thing…”Keep your feet on the ground and keep reaching for the stars.”
