Repartee Room

Go forth and be witty!

A place to…Converse…Be Witty…AND…R-E-S-I-S-T!

Dear Mitt,

I’ve read the stories regarding your ‘anger’ and tirade in front of the media this morning — conveniently timed so that it would get folded into the news cycle of the day. Then I did something that I’m certain you couldn’t have possibly done given what you had to say. In fact, given how most of your Republican buddies are running around high-fiving each other after the S&P downgrade, I’m going to assume most haven’t actually READ the S&P’s official report detailing their reason for downgrading the US either.

Buried deep (well, not that deep really —  bottom of page 4) in the seven-page report  is this interesting passage, “Compared with previous projections, our revised base case scenario now
assumes that the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts, due to expire by the end of 2012, remain in place. We have changed our assumption on this because the majority of Republicans in Congress continue to resist any measure that would raise revenues, a position we believe Congress reinforced by passing the act.”

So, based on the rhetoric, ideology, history and the stupidity of you and the other members of your petty party, the S&P is convinced that the failed Bush tax cuts that you all continue to advocate to the point of nausea, will undoubtedly be extended once again. You know, I don’t recall you mentioning this during your ‘angry’ rant this morning…but I digress.

But there you were this morning, huffing, puffing and…outraged even… that the President is “out of his depth”, and that the, “failure of the president to reignite this economy and get people back to work is one of the reasons we’re seeing such high levels of deficit and why the debt continues to grow at such an alarming rate.” Funny, I must have missed that part in the report.

But my absolute favorite part is when you said, “We need to put more Americans back to work and I’m afraid the president is just out of his depth when it comes to understanding how the private economy works.” This coming from the man who’s State ranked 47th out of 50 states when it came to job creation under your leadership. But again, I digress.

Mr. Romney, it is no secret the President has failed to stand up and fight the likes of you and the others in your party who are hell bent on bringing this country down for the sole purpose of making him a one-term President, but make no mistake about it sir…no matter how many times you say it…no matter how many times you twist the truth….you can not change the facts. The members of your party are responsible for creating this economic mess, and they (and you through your words and Op-Ed pieces) continue to pour gas on top of  this mess in the form of your ridiculous cuts, all so you can save those precious tax cuts which are slowly choking us all to death all while NOT producing a single job.

So Mitt on behalf of the rest of us who are already tired of you, do us all a favor – shut up and keep your phony outrage to yourself. Nobody who matters gives a damn….because if they did… A) you wouldn’t be perceived to be losing to Michele Bachmann in polls (boy, that’s got to sting) and B) wait, on second thought, I think A says it all.

Thank you.

One response to “A message to Mitt….”

  1. Thank you for posting this response to the phoniness coming out of the Republican Party. I’m disgusted with them. I’ve been mulling this over, so last night I created a new shirt design that I added to my democraticteeshirts.com page – As Warren Buffet Says TAX THE RICH. I’m also hoping our president will stop worrying about being such a “nice guy”. We all know he is cool, calm, and reasonable. I added a design of GIVE ‘EM HELL BARRY, the same message I sent to him on his birthday.
