My first reaction when I read Janay Rice’s statement this morning was, “honey, did you fall down and smack your little head on the pavement?” Then I remembered, this isn’t something to joke about. Especially since her head actually ran into his fist before smacking the railing of the elevator he knocked her out in.

If you have yet to read her statement, by all means…take a few moments to do so…

“I woke up this morning feeling like I had a horrible nightmare, feeling like I’m mourning the death of my closest friend. But to have to accept the fact that it’s reality is a nightmare in itself. No one knows the pain that the media & unwanted options from the public has caused my family. To make us relive a moment in our lives that we regret every day is a horrible thing. To take something away from the man I love that he has worked his ass of for all his life just to gain ratings is horrific. THIS IS OUR LIFE! What don’t you all get. If your intentions were to hurt us, embarrass us, make us feel alone, take all happiness away, you’ve succeeded on so many levels. Just know we will continue to grow & show the world what real love is! Ravensnation we love you!”

Yeah…I don’t get it either. Sure, everyone is entitled to make a mistake, and maybe this was a one time incident. Of course statistics prove that to be a pipe dream, but I’ll go along with the fact that “it is possible.”

I guess what galls me the most about the whole incident, is that neither one of them have taken responsibility for it. Before being fired yesterday, he somehow managed to escape being “punished” for knocking this woman out cold. And by punished, I mean jail time, because that’s where he deserved to go. Sure he’s said he sorry, but I have yet to see him “man up” and take responsibility for his actions.

Neither of them seem to get that what the world saw yesterday, was a man punching a woman out in an elevator…when previously we only saw him dragging her limp body out of said elevator…not that seeing him drag her body out the elevator wasn’t bad enough. Now we have a full picture of what happened — and the full picture is BEYOND disturbing.

Her statement is just sad. Not only does it sends the wrong message, but it’s clear she isn’t willing to accept that what he did to her in a PUBLIC elevator, isn’t a private matter. You can love and stand by him all you want, but at the very least, you need to make it known that what he did to you is not acceptable. The fact that you say “to make US relieve a moment in OUR lives that WE regret every day…” shows that you have no clue about what this is truly about.

Honey, this isn’t about ratings. And this isn’t about the media hurting you. This is about HIM hurting you…in public. Which only makes us wonder what happens when there are no cameras. What he did was illegal and horrifying. And until you get that, you should stop making public statements.

So until she understands that…I guess the answer to this posting is…she’s CLUELESS.

I pray to God it doesn’t end up that she was, in fact, suicidal.
