What Scares the 🤬Out of Me…

So… are deaths during ICE operations and videos of people being violently detained by federal agents now being treated like mass shootings?

Another headline. Another video. Another day. A few moments of outrage, a collective shrug, and then everyone moves on.

This morning, the Today Show didn’t report on the death of a Maine resident during an ICE operation until roughly 7:15 a.m.

Let me repeat that: one of the longest-running and most trusted morning news programs in the country didn’t get to that story until about 15 minutes into the broadcast.

What came first? A heat wave. The death of Senator Lindsey Graham and discussion of his replacement. Trump’s speech Thursday night. Iran. All important stories…I’m not arguing otherwise.

But when people are being killed during federal immigration enforcement operations, and videos of violent detentions seem to appear with increasing frequency, I can’t understand why this isn’t commanding more sustained national attention.

Oh, and by the way…it appears that the person they killed wasn’t even the person they were looking for.

No matter where you stand politically, we should never become so desensitized to violence, or to the treatment of other human beings by those exercising government authority, that it simply becomes background noise.

Because that’s what scares the 🤬 out of me most.

Not MAGA.

Not ICE.

The normalization of it all.
